How Star Wars: The Last Jedi will send off Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia

She will be given an 'amazing' send off

May the force be with her.

Star Wars fans were left heartbroken to hear of Carrie Fisher’s death in December 2016.

The iconic Princess – and later General – Leia actress passed away after suffering a severe cardiac arrest on a Los Angeles bound flight.

The 60 year old had finished filming all her scenes for the eighth Star Wars instalment, but the franchise had planned on bringing her back for Episode 9.

And while Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy assured fans that the storyline for The Last Jedi would be “unchanged”, she admitted that Fischer’s part in the blockbuster would need to be “rethought”.

This left many people questioning how the team would approach General Leia Organa’s farewell – and if her fate would do the role justice.

But John Boyega, who plays Finn in the most Star Wars films, says fans have no reason to worry – and that the Star Wars’ icon will have an “amazing” sendoff.

He told ABC’s Popcorn with Peter Travers: “[Carrie] and I have many scenes in this one.

“This movie, it does her…it sends her off in a very amazing way.

“She’s still kept alive in this franchise, and that’s the beauty of it. She lives on forever, in a sense.”
