If you ever wondered why you’ve never had the pleasure of watching a female Minion in action, the voice of our favourite friends decided to shed some interesting insights this week.
Pierre Coffin, who voices the creatures and co-directed the film, told The Wrap:
“Seeing how dumb and stupid they often are, I just couldn’t imagine Minions being girls.”
For anyone confused by the some of the Minions’ costumes and characters in the first two Despicable Me films, Coffin confirmed that all Minions are male.
When questioned previously on their Minion language, the creators said:
“It’s gibberish. It’s a mixture of all the languages of the world and it’s about finding a particular magical rhythm and melody that makes the nonsense make sense.”
While we’re all for girl power, we’re not sure too many male fans will be impressed with this latest revelation.
