Lili Reinhart has become synonymous with her Riverdale character Betty Cooper – and a firm fan favourite for her portrayal of the girl next door.
But it turns out another actress was almost cast to slip into Betty’s straight-laced shoes – and she’s on the Riverdale cast, too.
Madelaine Paetsch, who plays Cheryl Blossom on the show, recently said in a Q&A that she was strongly considered to play the role of Betty.
She explained:
“I initially auditioned for Legends of Tomorrow, and I then got called in the same day for a producer session for that guest [role].
“From there, I came in three days later, for producers for Betty.”
And while she didn’t get that part, Madelaine reckons producers had a hunch she would be a better fit for a different role.
She added:
“I’m pretty sure they always knew they wanted me for Cheryl.
“Then, four months later, I came in for Cheryl!”
