UPDATED: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have filed for divorce

UPDATE: Angelina Jolie has issued a statement about her divorce from Brad Pitt.

According to CNBC, the actress' attorney Robert Offer said;

"This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

This comes as a shock.

News has just broken that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences. The couple have been together since 2004 and only married in August 2014. TMZ are reporting that Angelina filed legal documents on Monday and is asking for physical custody of their six children. She's requesting that Brad be given visitation rights but that he cannot be granted joint physical custody. Sources have said that the issues have stemmed from the way Brad was parenting their children with Angelina being very upset with his methods. While she is looking for full custody she does not want any spousal support. Only last night The Sun obtained a quote from a source which suggested they were going to split:

"Angelina is very unhappy with the marriage and is considering splitting from Brad. “There have been rumours around the status of the relationship for years, but they are now very much in turmoil and it is hard to see a way out. “There have been a constant string of arguments about their future and their children. “The marriage is in crisis and friends doubt it will survive, although Brad and Angelina are both committed to do as much as they can to stay together for the sake of the kids while they are still young. “They have come through a lot before and somehow managed to keep up appearances but Brad thinks this time is different.”
