The 48-year-old Hollywood actress confirmed a timeline for filming to begin as well as an update on the casting process for the series.
Speaking with US outlet, People, Witherspoon – who played the lead character of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde – said she was so excited about the casting process.
“I’m really excited because we’re going through the casting process right now and we’re picking who is going to play the young me. It’s kind of a trip,” she said.
“It’s so exciting too, to watch these young girls that are so filled with enthusiasm and excitement.
“There’s so many good ones. That’s the hard thing because there’s so many good people to choose from.”
During the interview, she also confirmed that filming would begin as soon as March for the project.
According to production notes, it’s going to follow the life of Elle Woods during her High School years, “as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”
Reese went on to tell the publication: “I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series.
“Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do.
“What could be better than that.”
It’s also understood that a third Legally Blonde film is also in the works and is being created by Mindy Kaling and the co-creator of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ Dan Goor.
