Reese Witherspoon had the best 18th birthday present for her daughter

A present 18 years in the making.

Reese Witherspoon wins the prize for best birthday present giver ever as she had the most sentimental gift for her daughter Ava for her 18^th birthday. The proud mum and her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, shared adorably sweet birthday messages with their eldest daughter on social media this weekend, as well as sharing some family pictures from Ava’s childhood.

“Happy 18^th Birthday to my sweet girl, Ava,” Reese wrote on Instagram. “Your kindness, grace, intelligence and humour never cease to amaze me. I love you and your HUGE heart. “I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom.”

Ava also got in on the action sharing a throwback picture of herself with her followers, before making our hearts melt with this update. “18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother,” Ava captioned the picture of the 18 letters Reese wrote every year on her birthday but only gave to her this year.

Yes, it doesn’t get much sweeter than that. Ava is the eldest daughter of Reese and Ryan who welcomed their son Deacon four years later. The couple split just a few years later before Reese remarried and welcomed her third child in 2012.
