Are you the next Elle Woods?

An open casting call has been announced for the lead role in the upcoming prequel of Legally Blonde.

Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram to announce the exciting news.

She wrote: “Our search for the high school version of Elle Woods is officially ON!

“With our friends @primevideo we’re making the casting process totally OPEN, so you can submit your auditions at the link in my bio.

“I’m SO excited to see all your fabulous takes on everyone’s favourite Gemini vegetarian!”

The prequel was officially confirmed by Prime Video back in May and is currently in the planning phases under the title ‘Elle’.

Producers released a brief description of the series and said that it: “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”

As for the character, the audition page describes young Elle as: “A high school version of the iconic character Reese Witherspoon played in the Legally Blonde films, 18+ to play 16, white female. A driven, natural-born leader who will always stop to straighten another woman’s crown.

“With Bel Air tastes and an allergy to social injustice, Elle’s magnetic personality brightens the world with confidence, vulnerability, and an earnestness that charms everyone around her.

“Coming of age in the 90s, Elle will encounter her first love and her first heartbreak, and she will find her moral convictions.”

The sequel to this iconic film was released in 2003, followed by the straight to video film “Legally Blondes” in 2009, with Witherspoon producing the video instead of starring in it.

A musical adaptation debuted on Broadway in 2007. Meanwhile, a release date for the prequel series has yet to be confirmed.
