In news that will break the heart if Disney fans, it appears that once upon a time, Disney planned to release a movie that included every amazing female character you can think of. It was set to be called Princess Academy.
Just when it looked as though CGI and 3D would take over the world entirely and the old-style hand-drawn Disney movies we grew up on would be abandoned, Disney execs decided to return to their company roots, uniting director Oliver Ciappa with illustrator David Kawrna and music man Alan Menkin for a very special short.
Unfortunately, the hand-drawn animation department in Disney was shut down before the project was fully completed, and Princess Academy never saw the light of day.
Thanks to MoviePilot, however, some of the concept art is available... so we can dream.
