Katy Perry debuted her latest single Bon Appétit yesterday, and to be fair it’s a bit of a banger.
The summery-sounding song features hip-hop group Migos and will have you bopping around your kitchen.
So far, so good, but the single has prompted a backlash from some fans on Twitter.
Migos popped up on Calvin Harris’ track Slide this year but courted controversy when comments made by the group about rapper iLoveMakonnen (no idea either) were construed to be homophobic.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in January, band member Quavo suggested that iLoveMakonnen’s coming out as gay undermined his credibility.
According to Towleroad, the group later said the magazine had twisted their words and also apologised on Twitter.
Katy Perry has taken a strong pro-LGBT stance in the past and several of her fans have criticised the singer for collaborating with Migos.
yo @katyperry change your bio to “artist. activist. concious. accepts lgbt award and supports homophobia.”
