Are we the only ones who feel a bit better about ourselves?
While we thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Nigella’s favourite snack is something we can actually make with gusto, it seems Twitter were not at all impressed.
The sultry chef returned to our screens last night with her new series Simply Nigella, but her avocado toast recipe was deemed a little too simple by most.
The BBC host revealed that the dish is “a breakfast I eat more than any other”.
She continued: “I’m fully aware that avocado toast isn’t a recipe, but it’s part of the fabric of my life.
“I’m ready to eat it no matter what the time of day. It comes in handy for those days where lunch might be later than you’d like.”
She proceeded to demonstrate how she mashes the avocado with dill, lime juice, chilli flakes, ginger and salt and places it on top of spelt bread.
People weren’t happy.
Is she really showing me how to mash an avocado and put it on toast? #Nigella #Licencefee

New Nigella Lawson cookery show feels beyond parody. So far she’s mashed up an avocado and looked at some holiday photos. #nigella

I am actually in shock that Nigella is doing a recipe for avocado toast – this isn’t what I pay my license fee for!!!

Nigella is gr8 but I wish she’d stop using verbs and adjectives THAT MAKE NO SENSE in reference to food. You cannot drape an avocado.
