Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy are here to save the rom-com genre
Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy are set to star in a rom-com based on the best-selling novel You Deserve Each Other.
The Sarah Hogle book will be adapted for the big screen by the team at Amazon MGM, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Rom-com fans will be thrilled to hear that Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn will direct the movie. The duo worked on Never Been Kissed and He’s Just Not That Into You, so our hopes are already high.
Silverstein and Kohn have also penned the script, which was originally written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.

Rom-com lovers are in for a real treat with this lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers story.
Following the release of Anyone But You, we’ve been itching for a new rom-com. Between You Deserve Each Other and Deep Cuts, the rom-com genre is finally being revived.
The book follows Naomi Westfield and Nicholas Rose, who are preparing for their dream wedding. However, there’s one problem: they’re no longer in love.
The synopsis reads:
‘Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that’s three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him.
‘Naomi wants out, but there’s a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.

The rom-com genre is in safe hands with Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy leading this movie. Could they be the modern-day version of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan? We’ll just have to wait and see.
