One of our favourite childhood book series is getting a TV reboot

We’re SO excited.

Book fans, rejoice – The Baby-Sitters Club is getting a television reboot.

The books focused on a group of friends in Stoneybrook Connecticut, after they set up a baby-sitting service.

It focused on teaching young readers about things like dealing with family issues, how to deal with competitive situations, lessons to overcome jealousy and all about relationships.

After a brief TV adaptation in the 1990’s, we last caught up with the gang back in 2000, when they graduated from middle school.

But it looks like there’s a reunion of sorts on the cards, as DigitalSpy report a TV adaptation is on the cards.

The half hour episodes would focus on original characters fro the book series.

Fifty Shades Freed’s producer, Michael De Luca, taking on executive producing duties, while Rachel Shukert – the story  editor on Netflix’s GLOW – is said to be “in talks” to be the show runner.

Naia Cucukov, Walden Media’s senior vp development and production, said:

“As lifelong fans of The Baby-Sitters Club and its enduring messages of entrepreneurialism, empowerment, diversity and most importantly, female friendships, we couldn’t be more thrilled to work on this special project with Rachel and Lucia.

“We feel incredibly honored that Ann M Martin has allowed us the chance to introduce the BSC to a new generation of future thought leaders and influencers.”

The book series was originally penned by Ann M. Martin, before it was taken on by ghost writers.

It ran for 14 years, beginning in 1986, with more than 200 novels published.
