“No One Need Worry If They Are Doing Their Job Well” – New Pat Kenny Show To Rival The Late Late?!

This is interesting!

Sue Murphy

Yesterday it was announced that Pat Kenny would be joining UTV Ireland to host a new show but at the time, we had very few of the details concerning this particular broadcast and UTV certainly wanted to tease that out for a bit longer.

However, more news about the upcoming show which is due to air in 2015 has been released and this could get very interesting. To your corners gentleman! The new Kenny show may be set to take on in the Late Late Show in all-out ratings war.

Now, while we don’t have confirmation on that just yet, it has been hinted at by the UTV Ireland’s Head of Channel Mary Curtis.

Curtis told the Irish Independent: “This will not be a hard news and current affairs show. Although we may touch on those subjects depending on the different guests Pat has on. You have seen what he has done on RTE; we are going to utilise and maximise on that experience.”

However, when she was asked about whether Ryan Tubridy should be worried about his job, she merely replied with this: “No-one need worry if they are doing their job well. There is plenty of room for us all out there.”

Kenny on the other hand released a statement about how excited he is about moving to the station:

“I’m energised by what I’ve seen and the prospect of working with talented young people allied to some very experienced and wise colleagues.  I’m very excited to be joining UTV Ireland and really looking forward to broadcasting again early in 2015. For me, this is new territory – interesting, challenging and fresh.”

This could get very interesting.
