He’s one of the show’s favourites. Actor David Neilson who plays Corrie’s beloved Roy Cropper is reportedly taking a break from the cobbles, much to the disappointment of fans. According to The Sun, the actor is planning to take some time out from the soap in order to “recharge". His character Roy Cropper has been an integral part of the show for the last 20 years and the report has stated that ITV were “happy to accommodate” the move. Roy will reportedly bid farewell to his famous café for at least three months. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster of a ride for Roy on the show, with a number of difficult storylines to deal with. This included an award-winning plot which focused on Julie Hesmondhalgh’s character Hayley. Sad times, folks. Sad times indeed.
