A new Die Hard trailer has been released to settle the Christmas debate once and for all

Yippee-ki-yay, we’ve finally got an answer.

There are some films which are guaranteed Christmas films. You know the ones: It’s A Wonderful Life, Die Hard, Home Alone, Love Actually, The Holiday – just to name a few.

And then there are those which have, over the years, become Christmas movies. Not because they are festive, but because they are all but guaranteed to be shown over the holiday season.

One of those is Die Hard, an all-but-surefire guarantee to be on the telly at least half a dozen times over the holidays (if not more).

Over there years, there have been plenty of debates over whether or not the film can actually be considered a Christmas movie. Even the screenwriter and Bruce Willis himself have had their say in the matter.

But now, Twentieth Century Fox have released a new trailer for the movie that will settle the debate once and for all, calling it the “greatest Christmas story every told.”

The 90-second trailer is done as a fabulously festive comedy, as it introduces us to John McClane, a guy who “just wants to spend Christmas with his family.”

However, as the trailer notes, he will have “a holiday he’ll never forget.”

The brief trailer manages to pack in all of the festive references in the movie, before the voiceover says: “This Christmas get ready to jingle some bells and deck the halls with boughs of…: before it cuts to John shouting out Holly’s name.

Guess that settles it, so.
