Netflix Has No Plans To Restrict Subscribers From Watching The American Version

Chief product officer, Neil Hunt, said the reports are false.

Reports last week suggested that streaming service Netflix was planning to stop users from accessing its US version.

Netflix has different content available depending on what country you live in and there are ways of streaming shows that aren’t available in Ireland.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief now as the provider has denied plans to stop subscribers from using proxies to gain access.

Streaming shows from Netflix libraries not in your country is achieved by the use of virtual private networks (VPNs) which trick Netflix into thinking the user in a different part of the world.

Chief product officer of Netflix, Neil Hunt, recently spoke at the Consumer Electronics (CES) convention in Las Vegas and said the company has no plans to block the use of VPNs.

“The claims that we have changed our policy on VPN are false.

“People who are using a VPN to access our service from outside of the area will find that it still works exactly as it has always done”.

Now, go forth and enjoy a cosy couch Sunday complete with Netflix, a duvet and a gallon of tea.
