Netflix announce that Narcos: Mexico will return for a second season

The saga continues...

Netflix has confirmed that Narcos: Mexico will return for a second series. The announcement was made via a new video, which didn't include any new footage or anything, but instead just had clips from season one intercut with all the good reviews the show got. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4VVd6PENLI&feature=youtu.be Whereas the original Narcos series focused on the violent drug trade in Colombia, Narcos: Mexico switched the action, as you could probably tell from the title, to Mexico. The official synopsis for the show reads:

"Narcos: Mexico explores the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots, beginning at a time when the Mexican trafficking world was a loose and disorganized confederation of independent growers and dealers. Witness the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm, unifying traffickers in order to build an empire. "When DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) moves his wife and young son from California to Guadalajara to take on a new post, he quickly learns that his assignment will be more challenging than he ever could have imagined. As Kiki garners intelligence on Félix and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfold, affecting the drug trade and the war against it for years to come."

Narcos: Mexico was originally meant to be season four of original-flavour Narcos, but Netflix decided to spin it off into its own show. And Netflix is all-powerful at the moment, so they can basically do what the damn hell they please. There is no release date as of yet for season two.
