Liam Gallagher booed by fans over controversial song dedication

His comments were met with a mixed reaction

The Gallagher brothers reunited on stage in their hometown for the first time since 2009, a week after they kicked off their reunion tour in Cardiff.

A packed-out Heaton Park saw more than 80,000 fans flock to see the 'Champagne Supernova' hitmakers.

The band were met with raucous applause as they made their first appearance together on a Mancunian stage for the first time in 16 years.

However, some of the comments made by Liam did not leave the crowd best pleased.

At one point in the night, Liam spoke to the audience to made a dedication.

"I'd like to dedicate this to the greatest manager of all time, Mr Pep Guardiola," he said.

The mention of the Manchester City manager was met with mixed reactions in the crowd, as many started booing.

"Who you f***ing booing, who you f***ing booing," Liam added, before breaking out into 'D'You Know What I Mean'.

Laughter took over the boos as he broke into song, and the cardboard cutout of the City boss on stage became a focal point.

Guardiola himself was in attendance, and could be seen enjoying himself alongside Noel's daughter and Liam's kids.

Oasis also paid tribute to two Mancunian legends - Craig Cash and the late Caroline Aherne.

Noel declared "this one's for Caroline and Craig" before playing The Royle Family's theme song, 'Half a World Away'.

Pint prices at Heaton Park were a welcome surprise
