Kilkenny Hurler to get VIP Treatment from Arcade Fire Following Album Sale Mistake

Kilkenny hurler Matthew Ruth is to get the full VIP treatment by Arcade Fire for not leaking their new record after he accidentally was sold their album before the worldwide release. The double All-Ireland winning hurler bought the album from Rollercoaster Records on Kieran Street in Kilkenny, two days before the scheduled release. Ruth tweeted a picture of the album after he bought it and was soon flooded with requests to leak it online. Arcade Fire’s reps were quickly onto the Kilkenny store who were able to make swift contact with the customers and asked them to return the albums. According to the record store owner who spoke to the Irish Independent, it was an “honest mistake... luckily we know all our customers and were able to retrieve the sold albums." Ruth returned the album and later got a phone call from Arcade Fire’s lead singer Win Butler who thanked him for not leaking the album. The singer then offered to jet the GAA star over to see the band as a VIP guest. "He told me how much the band appreciated us not leaking the CD online. He said they had gigs coming up and would fly us over to meet him," said Matthew.
