Florence And The Machine To Replace Foo Fighters As Glastonbury Headliner

Florence and The Machine has been announced as the new headline act for this year's Glastonbury Festival. Foo Fighters had been due to take the prestigious Pyramid Stage slot on the Friday night of the festival but were forced to pull out of the gig last night after doctors ruled that Dave Grohl would not be fit to perform. Grohl broke his leg while on stage in Sweden last week and has since issued a statement promising fans "a night to remember for the rest of your lives" once the band in back in action. The Strokes, Super Furry Animals and Blur were among the acts rumoured to be taking over as headliner but it was announced this afternoon that Florence and The Machine will take the honours.

“Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!” Revised timings for the Pyramid Stage are set to be announced soon.
