Robin Thicke’s chart hit Blurred Lines has been banned from the University of Edinburgh.
"The decision to ban 'Blurred Lines' from our venues has been taken as it promotes an unhealthy attitude towards sex and consent” said Edinburgh University Student Association vice president services Kirsty Haigh.
“EUSA has a policy on zero tolerance towards sexual harassment, a policy to end lad culture on campus and a safe space policy - all of which this song violates."
According to the student newspaper, the ban was placed in line with EUSA’s anti-lad and rape culture policy, entitled "End Rape Culture and Lad Banter on Campus."

The ban first came to light at a silent disco last weekend.
“I began to play ‘Blurred Lines’ and about half way through the EUSA technician came up and said that song is banned in EUSA buildings” DJ Magus Monaghan told the university’s student newspaper.
“He didn’t make me turn it off but he asked what other events we were DJ-ing for in Freshers’ Week, and to make sure we didn’t play it again.”
The DJ also highlighted that he wasn’t forcing students to listen to the lyrics since the party-goers had the options to choose various tracks they wanted to listen to.
“At least half [of those at the disco] chose ‘Blurred Lines’” he said.
