Since March, Dua Lipa has been known to cover hits by iconic local artists during her Radical Optimism Tour, and for the Dublin show, she paid tribute to none other than an Irish legend.
Last Friday night (June 28), the One Kiss singer paid tribute to the late Sinéad O’Connor during her show at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The Dublin venue hosted 50,000 fans, almost a year after Taylor Swift's Eras Tour took place at the same venue.
Like many artists, Dua doesn't change her setlist for every show on her tour; however, the pop star always plays a surprise song related to the city or country she's performing in.
For instance, in London, she covered Charli XCX's 360 with the brat star herself.
In Liverpool, Dua sang a cover of Hey Jude by The Beatles.
So, the Dubliners were filled with anticipation about the song she had in store for the Irish capital.
And Dua Lipa didn't disappoint, opting for the iconic Nothing Compares 2 U hit by who she described as an “Irish legend.”
“Every night on this tour, I sing a different song by a local artist. Tonight I am honoured to perform a song by a late Irish legend.
"If you know the words, please sing along,” she told the crowd.
Sinéad O’Connor released her song in 1990 as the second single from her album, I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got.
The Irish singer suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and passed away in her London flat in 2023.
