Bruce Springsteen expected to play Cork and Dublin next year

The rock legend that is Bruce Springsteen is reportedly in talks to play gigs in Dublin's Croke Park and Cork's Páirc Uí Chaoimh next year. Sources claim that the Glory Days singer will return to Cork next year as part of a series of concerts. Additionally, The Irish Examiner reports that a licence for Bruce to play Croker on 23 and 24 April is currently being sought. The speculation comes after The Boss himself confirmed that he will tour with his E Street Band next year. In an interview with Zoe Ball on BBC, Bruce said: "We’ll be touring next year if everything goes well. The E Street Band will be back on the road – you know, depending, of course, on the virus and what’s opening up." Previously, on The Late, Late Show, Springsteen said he'd love to tour again, but, given the status of Covid-19, he didn't feel that it would be possible until 2022. As planning for next year's gigs gets underway, many may be concerned that Croke Park's limit on live events may throw a spanner in the works, particularly given the recent speculation that the king of country music, Garth Brooks, has his heart set on five nights in Croke Park. However, it seems Garth's ambitions will not impact potential Springsteen gigs, and vice versa. According to The Examiner, the planning year for live events kicks off after April, which is when Bruce's gigs are rumoured to take place. Brooks and Aiken promotions have proposed three gigs, and a fresh outdoor application will have to be made for the two additional dates. When asked about Brooks' five nights ambition, a Dublin City Council spokesperson said: "The outdoor event licence application for April is a stand-alone application and is still under consideration by the council.

“A decision will be made in respect of this application in due course."
