Beyoncé received her latest award - best R&B performance - for Black Parade. In addition, the evening saw her take home three other Grammys - Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for Savage with Megan Thee Stallion, and Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl.
Accepting her Grammy, Bey said: "Thank you guys. As an artist, I believe it's my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times. I wanted to uplift and encourage all of the Black kings and queens who inspire me and who inspire the whole word. I can't believe this happened. This is such a magical night."
It was a big night for the Knowles family generally, as Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy took home a Grammy of her own. The nine-year-old child had a writing credit on Brown Skin Girl, which won Best Music Video. With this win, Blue became the second youngest Grammy award winner. Leah Peasall - who won a Grammy at age eight in 2001 - currently holds the top spot.
In her acceptance speech, Beyoncé gave a special shout-out to her young protégé.
"I know my daughter is watching," she said. "Blue, congratulations, you won a Grammy tonight. I'm so proud. I love you so much, my rock."
Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé thanked Megan Thee Stallion for her work on Savage.
"I have so much respect for you. I'm honoured that you asked me to be a part of this song."
The singer's 28th win truly confirmed her place in music history. Previously, Alison Krauss held the record with 27 Grammy wins. As well as being the most decorated female musician, Beyoncé shares the title of second-most decorated musician ever with Quincy Jones.
The all-time record for most Grammy wins is currently held by composer Georg Stolti, who has won 21 Grammys.
