Mindy Kaling revealed the gender of her baby… and it was emotional

The mum-to-be's co-star revealed the news.

Mindy Kaling might be keeping the details of her pregnancy away from the press, but she’s not being so secretive with her friends. It was through her co-stars that news of her pregnancy was confirmed in the first place, so it was no surprise when another colleague shared the news of the gender. Ed Weeks revealed in an interview with Hello Giggles how his The Mindy Project co-star first shared the news of her pregnancy with the cast.

“She took us aside on set, weirdly in the open-office area where we film most of our scenes,” he said. “She said, ‘Guys, I want you to know, I’m pregnant. I haven’t told anybody.’ And then later that day it broke… it broke and nobody knew how it had got out.”

Weeks went on to reveal how Mindy’s latest pregnancy announcement reminded the cast of how crazy life can be, saying:

“The show started as a tribute to her mother, who very sadly passed away just as the show was being picked up, and it ends with her having a daughter of her own. "When she reminded us all of that, we all cried in the final table read. “Life makes some very interesting and beautiful patterns sometimes.”
