In an incredibly candid and honest interview, Friends star Matthew Perry has revealed that he doesn’t remember three years of filming the sitcom.
Speaking to presenter Chris Evans on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Perry, who played Chandler for over ten years, admitted that he was a “little bit out of it” for the middle years of the show.
When James Nesbitt, who was also joining Chris in studio, asked him which was his least favorite episode of the classic nineties sitcom, he responded:
“I don’t remember three years of it, so none of those’ adding of his blackout: ‘I was a little out of it at the time…Somewhere between seasons three and six.”
The 46-year-old, who is currently rehearsing for an upcoming West End play, The End of Longing, has spoken out about his battle with drug addiction in the past.
Last year, he told the Hollywood Reporter: “You can’t have a drug problem for 30 years and then expect to have it be solved in 28 days.
“I’m a pretty private person, but I was on a TV show that 30 million people were watching. So people knew. It was so public what was happening to me.
Earlier this month it was revealed that the actor would not be able to attend the two-hour NBC special which had been dubbed a Friends reunion.
Addressing the rumours on Radio 2, he said he still wouldn’t rule out a reunion: “I don’t know what the price would be but I think the actors would actually be open to it, I do. I think we would be open to doing something, some kind of TV special. I don’t know about a movie.”
“It’s kind of tough because we’ve ended on such a high note that we don’t want to ruin it, so we’d want to be really careful. Sometimes when you do a reunion it’s terrible, and it sort of ruins the memory of the good show that you’ve done before.”
