Making A Murderer – Steven Avery’s Ex Fiancee Jodi Says He’s Guilty

She branded him a "monster".

Megan Cassidy

This has shocked us.

In stark contrast to the relationship we see between Steven Avery and Jodi Stachowski on the Netflix documentary Making a Murderer, Jodi has revealed she feels Steven is guilty.

The documentary follows the story of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who were both accused and convicted of the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005.

Avery had previously spent eighteen years in prison after being wrongly convicted of rape.

Now, Jodi, whom Steven met and fell in love with after his first release, has said she feels he is guilty of the murder of Teresa Halbach and branded him a “monster.”

Speaking on American legal commentary show Nancy Grace, Jodi alleged that Avery was violent and abusive throughout their relationship and that he “beat her all the time”.

Referring to Steven’s wrongful conviction for sexual assault in 1985, she said:

“He told me once, all b*tches owe him, because the one that sent him to prison the first time.

“We all owed him. And he could do whatever he wanted”

“Steven’s the one person I can’t trust. He’s a monster.”

Stachowski also alleged that she was forced to take part in the documentary and that her support was “just an act”.

“He told me how to act. Smile, be happy. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to get hurt.”

She also alleged that he tried to kill her and that she consumed rat poison to escape him:

“He choked me one night. Well, actually, he started hitting me, so I called the police. So he choked me and was dragging me out the door so we could leave before the police got there and we were driving down the road.

“The police that were on the way pulled over and they took me out of the car and asked me what was going on. They arrested him and ordered him to stay away from me for three days.”

“I ate two boxes of rat poison just so I could go to the hospital and get away from him, and ask them to get the police to help me.

Stachowski and Avery were engaged when Avery was convicted of murder in 2005 and the pair broke up in 2007.
