Love Island’s Hugo says he’s “super happy” for Chloe and Toby

Was she the one that got away?

After being dumped from the villa on last night’s episode of Love Island, Hugo Hammond has spilled the tea on the nature of his relationship with Chloe Burrows.

When asked if she was “the one that got away”, the PE teacher spoke in length about their close bond.

“She saved me very early on and chose to couple up with me in a friendship couple,” he said. “And from there we just became best friends. She’s a gorgeous girl and we get along so well.

“So I could see myself being with ‘a Chloe’ for example. But I did ask the question at one point. I did and obviously we were too far in then in the friendship place and I wouldn’t want to jeopardise that as well.

“She was there for me a lot of the times when I needed her and I think that was reciprocated and I was there when she needed me. ‘The one that got away” is going to be thrown around, but I wouldn’t say so.”

When asked about Chloe’s relationship with Toby, Hugo said that if they’re both happy, then he’s “over the moon” and added that he doesn’t “hold grudges”.

“I’m really happy for them,” he said. “They genuinely look so happy and they were just loving each other’s company.”

He added that he hopes they work on the outside, and that they “keep going from strength to strength as a couple.”

When asked about his relationship with Toby, all appears to be well between the two.

Hugo said that he’d “100%” meet up with him later.

“Families fall out,” Hugo said. “They kiss and make up just as quickly. I want to see him play footy. We’ve got a lot of plans and I’ll be supporting him and Chloe throughout the rest of this journey as I’ll be supporting everyone else.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One and on the Virgin Media Player.
