He’s doing well.
Love Island star Antigoni Buxton has given fans of the show an update following Jacques O’Neill’s shocking exit from the villa this week.
Fans were left in shock after Jacques announced to his fellow islanders on Tuesday that he would not be staying in the villa, telling them that he wasn’t “being himself” during his time there.
Waiting for Paige on the outside, she seems to be getting along well with Adam Collard, who returned to the show after he first appeared on it back in 2018 only a day before Jacques left.
Fans have since been concerned for his wellbeing and have been wondering how the rugby player has been doing since being home, and Antigoni has the answer.
Revealing that she had FaceTimed with him, she explained that he told her he is in a “good place”.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: “I spoke to him yesterday – I met his mum on FaceTime, she was lovely. He seems like he’s in a really good place. It was just his time. I’m really proud of him for making that decision.”
Jacques’ mum also shared an update on how he is doing since being home, sharing a fan-made video documenting her son’s time in the villa – in particular his relationship with Paige Thorne and his friendship with Luca Bish.
In the accompanying caption she wrote: “He is home.”
Jacques himself has yet to break his silence on his departure. The 23-year-old made the decision to leave in Tuesday night’s episode, following the arrival of Adam Collard. After learning that Adam insinuated that he was immature, Jacques became upset and took Paige aside to talk to her about it.
Paige, however, pointed out that she wanted him to work on how he handles these things if they want to move forward in their relationship. In the end, after sharing that he wasn’t feeling himself, Jacques told the villa that he would be leaving that evening.
A statement from the show regarding his departure read: “Jacques has made the decision to leave the villa.
“He will explain his reasons to the Islanders during tonight’s episode. We fully support his decision and look forward to seeing what’s next for Jacques.”
