Love Island received over 1,500 complaints for one episode last week

In the last week alone, Ofcom received over 2,000 complaints about the reality show.

This year's Love Island wrapped up on Monday night, and while viewers were hooked, not everyone was satisfied with what they were watching. The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has said that it's received over 2,000 complaints in the final week of the show. The majority of those complaints - 1,611 - were in relation to one of last week's episodes, in which the cast dealt with the fallout of the 'least compatible' vote. In the episode, Faye confronted a number of her fellow islanders after she figured out who had cast their votes for her couple. Additionally, there were 297 complaints about the results of the final vote, which saw Millie and Liam take the £50,000 prize. Toby and Chloe came second, Teddy and Faye came third and Kaz and Tyler finished in fourth position. This brings the complaints made against this season of Love Island to over 35,000. Earlier on in the season, Ofcom received 24,763 complaints over the episode in which Faye shouted at Teddy after movie night. Prior to that, the series received over 4,000 complaints for another episode, which saw the girls receive a postcard detailing the antics coming out of Casa Amor. Recently, ITV boss Kevin Lygo defended the complaints directed at Love Island. At the Edinburgh TV Festival he said: "The thing about complaints these days is every week there is a new most-complained-about show. It’s very easy now to complain, it wasn’t so long ago you had to go to the post office and get a stamp and now it’s the click of a button. "I'm not so much worried about how many complain as what they are complaining about." He added: "The ratings go up when there is a bit of conflict."
