‘His life depends on me’: Jennifer Metcalfe on parenthood demands

The Hollyoaks actress became a mother this year after welcoming her first child with Greg Lake.

Jennifer Metcalfe enjoyed a well-deserved night off this week for the Inside Soap Awards and spoke about her new life in the role as mum to baby boy Daye.

“It’s really hard but it’s amazing,” she told OK! Online. “You buzz of yourself every day because you excel yourself because you’ve got to because this little person is so demanding. “But he’s honestly amazing and I’m so in love.”

Parenthood has had a huge impact on the actress's life and she says the biggest difference she’s noticed is her increased amount of patience.

“I’ve got more patience than I thought – you have to have patience. “His life depends on you, so you just have got to be patient.”

While the new mum was enjoying her night off, she wasn’t total detached from her little boy.

“Greg’s mum was sending us pictures because she’s got him tonight and we were just like ‘look at him!’ “We’re going to be those sad parents that show everyone pictures and they’re like ‘we don’t really care’.”
