John Cena and Nikki Bella confirm split after six years together

The pair confirmed the news on social media today.

After six years together, John Cena and Nikki Bella have called time on their relationship. Nikki took to Instagram early this morning to share a statement through her team, calling the decision a "difficult" one. “After much contemplation and six years of being together, Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple,” read the statement shared. “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.” The WWE stars became engaged last year after John got down on one knee at Wrestlemania 33, a moment Nikki referenced on her Instagram only last week. Sharing a video made by the WWE to mark the one year anniversary of their engagement, Nikki said: “I can’t believe this was last year. What a moment, still get chills and tears every time. “Honestly feel like the luckiest girl in the world.” John has yet to directly reference the split on his own social media profiles, however, he has posted some pictures to his Instagram which fans believe are in reference to the announcement, including a quote that reads” “We were together. I forget the rest.” A few hours after Nikki posted the announcement, John also shared a meme from The Simpsons which simply read: “Worst day ever!” Last month, John spoke to Her about his relationship saying: “I know my relationship is on a public platform, I try to be open and honest about that. "I’m not afraid to say I am in love and I work every day at being in love.”
