Concern has been expressed this week for the wellbeing of former Eastenders actress Elaine Lordan, after she was seen swigging from a wine bottle in the street.
Lordan played Lynne Hobbs, one of the Slater sisters, for several years in the popular BBC soap but is understood to have had a long-term battle with alcoholism.
Following her departure from the soap in 2004, Lordan’s now-deceased mother Bernadette spoke out to say that Elaine’s drinking “is a problem and I wish she would cut down”.
Worrying photos have now emerged showing the actress looking drawn as she walked down the street near her home, with a witness saying that the 47-year-old stopped at a corner shop for a small bottle of wine which she then drank in the street.
“It’s absolutely tragic. Elaine looks awful. She is so thin and drawn — she doesn’t look at all well. She put the empty bottle into her coat pocket and walked up the road to put it in the bin,” a bystander told The Sun On Sunday.
