The most Irish thing ever is happening on the Late Late tonight

Iconic.

Ryan Tubridy sure knows how to play the field.

Which is handy because he’ll be doing that tonight on The Late Late Show.

Last week, the talk show played host to the most expensive lamb in the country (and god, wasn’t she just gorgeous), but tonight is when it all kicks off as Ryan goes head-to-head with none other than rugby star Sean O’Brien for an actual, real-life, live plough-off.

Yes you did read that correctly – a plough-off.

Tubs took to Instagram to announce the news and share a nice pic of himself chilling out in a tractor.

In the post’s caption, he wrote:

“Well @seanobrien678 It looks like we’re ploughing a furrow on live tv tomorrow night. You, me and Anna May McHugh as referee. Let’s do this thing!”

He also used the hashtag ‘playingthefield.’ Telling.

While Ryan is no stranger to a good aul plough having gotten his hands dirty at last year’s National Ploughing Championships, rugby player O’Brien grew up on a farm in Carlow.

It’s probably safe to say he’s been more than acquainted with a field or two.

Also appearing on the show tonight will be National Ploughing Championship Association chief Anna May McHugh, comedian Eddie Izzard, and author Marian Keyes.

There will be music from The Stunning and Paul Carrack.

The National Ploughing Championships are due to kick off on September 19.
