Belfast dominated the list with 11 nominations.
The list of Golden Globe 2022 nominees has been announced and it features a host of Irish names.
Actresses Ruth Negga and Caitríona Balfe are set to go head to head as both are nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
Caitríona has been nominated for her role in Belfast, while Ruth has been nominated for performance in Passing.
Others in the category include Ariana DeBose for West Side Story, Kirsten Dunst for The Power of the Dog and Aunjanue Ellis for King Richard.
Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast is one of the films dominating this year’s list with 11 nominations this year.
The film, which is semi-autobiographical, tells the story of a young boy growing up in the Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
Jamie Dornan has also bagged a nomination for Supporting Actor for his role in the movie, along with co-star Ciarán Hinds.
Passing tells the story of a light-skinned Black woman posing as a white woman in Harlem during the 1920s, a role that Ruth told Vanity Fair is “still haunting” her.
Belfast opens in Irish cinemas on Friday, 21 January, while Passing is available to stream on Netflix.
The Golden Globes has received criticism recently regarding diversity, sexism and ethics. Certain studios have said they will boycott the awards show. US network NBC has decided not to air the 2022 awards ceremony, while public figures like Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise have spoken out against them.
The organiser of the awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, says it has undertaken a major reform process.
Lady Gaga is also up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani in House of Gucci, while Kristen Stewart was nominated for playing Princess Diana in Spencer.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony in Beverly Hills on Sunday, 9 January.
