Fans may already recognise Niamh from her role in Netflix’s The Witcher.

Major congratulations are in order for Irish actor Niamh McCormack, who has just landed a role in an upcoming adaption of The Magic Flute.

The 20-year-old actor spent the past year filming the project on location in Munich and Salzburg.

The film, which will be directed by Florian Sigl, is a fantasy musical based upon Mozart’s 1791 opera. In it, Niamh will play the character of Sophie alongside Iwan Theon, Jack Wolfe, Asha Banks and Amir Wilson.

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, Niamh said that last year has been “absolutely nuts”, as she went from lockdown life to the set of a blockbuster film.

Speaking of her time filming the movie, Niamh said: “I’ve met so many beautiful souls and friends I will cherish forever and I couldn’t be more grateful, to be surrounded by supportive, creative powerhouses is forever inspiring.”

While The Magic Flute may be the star’s biggest break to date, it’s far from her only major credit. In fact, audiences may recognise Niamh for her performance as Lara Dorren in Netflix’s hugely popular fantasy series The Witcher.

Niamh has also enjoyed numerous roles in film. Earlier this year, she played Róisín in the Irish film Who We Love. The coming–of-age drama was directed by Graham Cantwell and also starred Paul Ronan, Amy-Joyce Hastings and Danielle Galligan.

Prior to her acting debut, Niamh worked as a model and appeared in campaigns for Arnott’s and Life Style Sports. She also participated in Milan Fashion Week when she was just 16.
