Coronation Street star Mikey North has confirmed that he is engaged to his girlfriend of two years Rachael Isherwood.
Following weeks of speculation, the actor, who plays Gary Windass on the show, confirmed the news to OK! magazine.
“I told her to shut her eyes,” he explained. “When she opened them I was down on one knee with the ring. I was looking up at Rachael, with my knees getting wet, and I just said, ‘Will you marry me?’”
“In the moment before I proposed I was shaking like a leaf,” he continued, adding that he had popped the question during a trip to the Lake District.
“I called my mum and I just couldn’t stop crying,” the 28-year-old said. “I am dreading that I’ll just cry my way through it [the wedding]! I am very sensitive and bawling my eyes out all the time.
“My hard man reputation is absolutely ruined!
“Rachael is the best thing that has ever happened to me,” he continued. “And I don’t mind telling everybody! She’s changed my life for the better.”
