Speaking about his exit, he told Mail Online: “I didn’t know at the beginning, it wasn’t something I discussed.
“But I came into the show to bring some drama and when the idea was pitched to me I thought it was fantastic, dramatic and part of Coronation Street history.”
This week's Coronation Street has been explosive.
The 42-year-old added: “I have always done a lot of things in my career and always move on, I’ve had a fantastic time and to be a part of scenes like that was a great end to the character.
“It was like being in an action movie and quite a way to die. I did share a tear watching it back.”
