Hughie’s deep shade of fake tan was all anyone could talk about last night.

The Irish Dancing With The Stars has lots of people talking. From the dancing to the colourful outfits it’s keeping plenty of people entertained.

However, it was hard to see anything else last night when Hughie Maughan appeared on camera.

The former Big Brother contestant, who is known for liking his fake tan, appeared to be far darker than his usual mahogany glow.

This prompted a huge reaction on Twitter with many people making the same jokes.

While we know Hughie is a fan of the tan, it was hard to understand how exactly he ended up quite so dark.

But now Hughie has explained it all.

He told Ryan Tubridy on RTE radio one today, that the makeup artist used the same foundation she has used on Jamelia.

“What happened was I got to the studios and I started sweating because we’d been rehearsing all day in these massive heavy clothes underneath all the lights”

“I had to constantly wipe my face and I ended up looking like a Dalmation.” He said.

“It was all patchy so we had to get this foundation you’d normally use for African skin – it was actually the same foundation the makeup artist used for Jamelia on the Voice.

“It was obviously for a black person and I’m white.” He explained.

He added that, by the time they realise, it was too late to fix it as the show was about to start.

“When we put it on we realised how dark it was and then it was two minutes to air and there was nothing we could do.

“The other stuff they had wasn’t dark enough because the tan that was on my face.”

Hughie has said that he laughed it off and didn’t take it too seriously.
