STOP MESSING WITH EVERYTHING SACRED FROM OUR CHILDHOODS.
*Sigh*
OK, now that we have that out of our system, we must tell you that a Home Alone reboot is coming.
Yes, the perfect 1990 Christmas film that still delights children and adults alike almost three decades after its release is being remade, for some reason.
Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the news yesterday.
He didn’t share details about the plot, release date or potential cast but simply said that the updated version was for “a new generation”, reports Entertainment Tonight.
It will, according to Disney, have the “same standards and the same creative discipline” as the one we all know and love.
The original film was a smash, becoming the highest-grossing live action comedy film of all time and making a star of Macauley Culkin, then aged 10.
Home Alone isn’t the only film getting revamped – Disney also plans to remake Night At the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By the Dozen.
The reboots will premiere on Disney+, the streaming service set to launch later this year.
Disney now owns the rights to all of these movies after buying 20th Century Fox earlier this year.
Their new broad catalogue of titles means Disney+ could boast everything from Star Wars and Avatar to The Simpsons.
