Time to accept it guys…
Ever since Friends ended all the way back in 2004, fans have been begging for a reunion.
As a super-fan myself, of course I’d have loved to see the gang back together but if it hasn’t happened by now, it’s not going to happen.
If the length of time that passed wasn’t enough of a case against a reunion, someone who has the power to decide these things says that she is very against it.
Marta Kauffman, one of the show’s co-creators says she really doesn’t want it to happen, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking at Friends retrospective panel at the Austin Film Festival she said:
“They’d all be older, and it wouldn’t be the same, and people will only end up feeling disappointed, and then I’ll be embarrassed, and it would be terrible.”
The show’s beauty is that it is largely focused on that middle stage between college and being an adult.
“The show is about that time in your life when your friends are your family” She said.
Adding that once Monica and Chandler started their own family in the series’ finale, it “was no longer about that time.”
The transition into adulthood at the end of the season mean’t that Friends could never really be the show that we know and love again.
So really, she’s doing you a favour by not having one, you’d only be disappointed, apparently.
