She’s had her say.
Saoirse Ronan joined Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show last night to chat about her new move Lady Bird. While she was on the show he also addressed her recent sketch on SNL where she mocked Aer Lingus.
She left a lot of Irish people scratching their heads after watching the sketch which they felt wasn’t funny. It involved an all-potato Aer Lingus menu and a lot of dogs, for some strange reason.
A lot of people were saying, “WHAT was she thinking” and now we finally know the answer to that.
When asked about the reaction to it, she said:
“It was fun and the show is a comedy show and it was a huge thing for me to go on, I mean it’s a dream come true for me to go on and do something like that and it was amazing.
One of the things that was really important for me throughout the week, Lorne Michaels, the creator of the show, had numerous meetings, and whenever he asked me what I wanted or felt strongly about, I would say I really want to use my own accent as much as possible and I want to have at least one Irish sketch.
I got to host the show which was a huge homourand it was great to get U2.”
Then Ryan said, “So, you’re not anti-Aer Lingus”, and Saoirse replied:
“I’m not anti-Aer Lingus! Listen, I collect my points on Aer Lingus, that’s how often I fly Aer Lingus. I shop local of course and eat Tayto! You know it was so much fun and to be able to represent Ireland and great to have U2 on the show with me.”
