Harry and Meghan’s wedding venue and date have been announced

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to marry at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, it has been announced.

It's also been revealed that they're set to tie the knot in May. The church is much smaller than Westminster Abbey in London where Kate and William got married in 2011 (a capacity of 800 as opposed to 2,000), but it won't be the first time a royal couple have wed there. Most recently, Peter Phillips, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips' son, married Autumn Kelly there in 2008. Harry's uncle Prince Edward also married his wife Sophie Rhys-Jones there in 1999. Windsor is a "very special place" for Harry, according to the prince's communication's secretary Jason Knauf. The couple is thought to have spent time there together over the past year and a half. While May is a little later than expected for the wedding (it's not really spring, is it?) it does make sense that that's when they'll get married. Kate is due to give birth to her third child in April, meaning that month would be a bit iffy for Meghan and Harry to marry. The Queen will also be busy with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in April. A May wedding also gives the couple a little more time to prepare, which is just as well as they're set to plan the whole thing themselves, according to Jason Knauf. "This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the bride and groom," he said. "Prince Harry and Ms Markle are leading the planning process for all aspects of the wedding." Meanwhile it's also been anounced that Meghan, who attended a Catholic school, will be baptised and confirmed before she marries Harry. She'll get her first taste of royal duties later this week when she and Harry embark on their first royal official engagement together later this week. They're due to visit an Aids charity in Nottingham on Friday.
