Having Great British Bake Off withdrawals? Fret not, our Irish equivalent version kicks off this Sunday at 9pm on TV3.
Produced by Sideline, this year’s series is bigger than ever. Returning judge Paul Kelly is joined for the first time by the charming Lilly Higgins. Favourite, Anna Nolan returns to present.
When asked how it would compare to the TV staple that is the GBBO, Nolan assured viewers “It’s a million times better”.
Tinakilly House, Co Wicklow once again provides the backdrop for the baking tent which producers state will be much bigger than previous series.
“This year there is a bigger tent,” says producer Simon Proctor.
The Irish series has a much tighter filming period than that enjoyed by the BBC version and was shot over four weeks in September. The weather was reportedly so nice producers were able to open three of the four sides of the new larger tent.
With the 9pm timeslot on Sunday causing some controversy, Proctor reckons it will be a nice round off to weekend TV viewing.
“It will feel like a bit of a treat at the end of the weekend,” said Proctor.
