While we can’t imagine Gossip Girl without Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, it seems the pair weren’t the first choices for the show.
The casting director for CW, David Rapaport, revealed to Buzzfeed this week that two other famous ladies could have landed the lead roles.
Rumer Willis could have been the lead in the show.
He said that Rumer Willis (as in the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) was top of the list to play Serena van der Woodsen.
“I love Rumer, she’s grown into quite an amazing actress and person,” he said, “but that, to me, was based on protecting the investment of a television show where creatively, these lesser-known girls really captured the essence of the show and carried it for six years.”
Ashley Olsen was in the frame to play Blair.
As for Blair Waldorf, Ashley Olsen was in the frame however Leighton ultimately got the part.
