After 14 years, Gina Torres and Laurence Fishburne announce split

2017 – the year of the celebrity splits.

Yes, with another day comes another celebrity couple separation announcement. This time it’s the turn of Gina Torres and Laurence Fishburne. Rumours that the Suits actress was cheating on her husband began circulating yesterday after pictures of her kissing another man emerged online. The backlash led to Torres quickly making the announcement today that the pair had ended their 14-year marriage as early as autumn of last year.

“With heavy hearts, Laurence and I quietly separated and began the dissolution of our marriage in the early fall of last year,” she revealed in a statement to People. “There are no bad guys here. Only a love story with a different ending than either one of us had expected.”

The pair became engaged in February 2001 and were married in September of the following year. The welcomed their first child together in 2007, and Torres says the pair will continue to work together to raise her.

“Happily, however, our family remains intact and we will continue to raise our daughter together with love and joy and awe. “As well as raise each other up with respect and love and the continued understanding that we’re in this together, if not side by side.”

Gina left the USA Network show Suits last year at the end of season six to pursue other ventures, however, will now return to season seven as a recurring cast member. While Fishburne is preparing for his role in the next installment of Marvel’s Ant-Man while continuing his work on the ABC show, Black-ish.
