Excuse us while we cry.
It’s hard to believe that The Great British Bake Off as we know and love it is gone. We were given a glimmer of hope yesterday after it was announced that the show would return for a Christmas special but it still doesn’t make up for the fact it won’t return on The BBC for an eighth series.
This year’s show was particularly emotional because viewers got very invested in some of the contestants, particularly the final few and, of course, Val.
Everyone was gutted when Val left midway through the competition. Although she wasn’t the strongest baker people still wanted her on the show for her unique approach to baking and her little quirks, such as listening to her baked goods.
But now Val has everyone crying all over again after she left the sweetest message on Selasi’s apron. He got all the bakers to write a message on his GBBO apron and has it hanging in his house.
Included on it is Val’s message which reads, “You are all my children.”
What a HERO.
Congratulations @CJ_Brownie #GBBO winner. Huge congrats also to @cakesmyth @Janebbakes, great talents! #priceless piece to remember the ride pic.twitter.com/aurgcjuVNz
