Future in doubt for RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars presenters

Season seven of the smash hit RTÉ show aired this year, with an average audience of 478,000 per episode – slightly up on last year’s figures.

Beginning in 2017, the show has regularly been among the broadcaster’s top performers, with viewership numbers eclipsing other major RTÉ vehicles like The Tommy Tiernan Show and The Late Late Show.

The show is expected to return to our screens in January next year, however questions around who will be hosting it are still unanswered.

Zamparelli shocked listeners announcing her radio show departure last month, saying that spending more time with her children is a reason behind her leaving.

The host presented her own show from 9-12pm weekdays on the station since May 2019.

However, in an exit interview with new host Laura Fox, Zamparelli said that she ‘hasn’t left RTE, just 2FM’, hinting at a return to the screens in the future.

Garrihy also announced her departure from 2FM’s Breakfast Show in May, saying that she wants “to travel” and for her to “pursue the projects” she has been “dreaming about”.

Garrihy hosted the programme since 2019, first opposite Eoghan McDermott and then with current co-hosts Carl Mullan and Donncha O’Callaghan.
