It could well be the glimmer of hope that thousands of Father Ted fans have been waiting for as the programme’s co-creator has hinted that he would like to bring the hugely popular show back.
“I would never bring back the TV show, because of the risk you poison people’s memories of the original,” Graham Linehan told the Radio Times.
“But, if you were to come up with a completely new format, I think it would be worth doing,” he reflected. “I have this vision of a dancer number… with spinning cardinals.”
He added that a live show would have to take into account the various scandals that have rocked the Catholic Church in the last few years.
“You can’t just ignore that stuff,” he said, before adding that although Arthur Matthews, who also co-created the show, was “not as convinced” while he believes “it could work.”
Now… where do we buy those tickets?
