Apple Cider Vinegar is an uncomfortable watch
Apple Cider Vinegar has become one of the most-watched shows on Netflix this month.
The limited-series has been praised by viewers but many are finding the show a little bit too uncomfortable.
The limited series follows the story of Australian influencer Belle Gibson who lies about having cancer.
Netflix confirmed it isn’t a biopic but is a work of fiction based on a “true-ish story based on a lie.”
Viewers have been left feeling incredibly uncomfortable after watching the show because it is based on a true story.
Many viewers admitted they couldn’t quite believe the story of Belle Gibson was real.

The idea that Belle Gibson faked a #Glioblastoma diagnosis for attention & then for profit and is utterly horrific.
The acting is v good but sadly Laura wasn’t acting – this was her real life. pic.twitter.com/XaO7LcdPie
I’d never heard of the story of Belle Gibson before tuning into the series and couldn’t wrap my head around it.
I flew through the six episodes in one sitting because I was completely gripped by the story unfolding on screen.
Apple Cider Vinegar is an enthralling but uncomfortable watch because it highlights how far people will go for fame.
The series also highlights how damaging social media can be and the harmful pedestals we put influencers on.
What really stuck with me was how everyone believed her and followed her advice with some even ignoring their doctors.
Not only did Belle Gibson lie about having multiple cancers, but she also lied to people about ‘curing’ it with a healthy lifestyle.
A lie far too many people believed.
What is Apple Cider Vinegar about?
‘The life of wellness guru Belle Gibson, who had a large social media following, where she pretended to be suffering from cancer but keeping the disease under control using self-care therapies. She confessed that none of it was true.’
The series stars Kaitlyn Dever, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Aisha Dee.
The story of Belle Gibson’s scandal is told in the book The Woman Who Fooled the World by Australian journalists Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano.
Apple Cider Vinegar lands on Netflix now.
